Hire Private Label Packaging Expert — packaging that wins the shelf and the click

Private label lives or dies on packaging — on the shelf it has three seconds against national brands, on Amazon the main image does all the selling. A private label packaging expert designs for both battlefields: shelf impact and differentiation, regulatory labels that keep you compliant, dielines your supplier can actually produce, and Amazon image stacks engineered for the click.

Packaging engineered for shelf, compliance, and click

How It Works

From product to shelf-ready packaging

A structured engagement with no surprises — you’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.

Why Omer

Why hire a private label packaging expert through a Fractional CTO

Packaging is where design meets supply chain — dielines, print processes, compliance, marketplace feeds — and I operate across all of it. I verify the technical layer suppliers care about and connect the packaging to your digital shelf.

The result: packaging that ships on time, complies everywhere you sell, and converts both on shelf and on screen. To package your product properly, contact me with your product and markets.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

We sell on Amazon — do we still need physical packaging design?

Yes — and Amazon-specific design. The main image, infographics, and A+ content are your digital packaging, engineered from the same brand system as the box.

Can you handle regulatory requirements?

Label compliance for your target markets is built into the process — but final legal sign-off stays with your regulatory counsel. I design to the regulations; lawyers confirm.

What do you need from our supplier?

Dielines, print specs, and material options — I will give you the exact request list. Artwork is built to their reality, not to a designer’s fantasy.

How long does packaging design take?

Six to ten weeks from brief to supplier-ready files, including compliance review. Rushing packaging is how products get detained at customs.

Can you design for multiple products in a line?

That is the ideal engagement — a packaging architecture where variants share structure and differentiate clearly, designed once and extended efficiently.

Beyond the mock-up

What you actually get when you hire a private label packaging expert: plate-ready files, managed colour, and compliance built in

When you hire a private label packaging expert, you are really paying for the gap between a beautiful mock-up and a carton that prints clean on the supplier's actual press. That is where I work. I resolve your concept into production reality: locking the dieline revision against the factory's cutting die, setting colour up the way the press will reproduce it, and building artwork that passes preflight the first time. Most of the value is invisible work, overprint and trapping, total ink coverage, barcode magnification and quiet zones, bleed and registration tolerances. I treat the supplier's prepress team as a collaborator rather than an afterthought, so files go to plate without the week of back-and-forth that quietly kills a launch date.

Colour is where private label projects usually come undone, so I manage it from end to end. I design to the substrate, not to my monitor, because a logo that sings on coated SBS board shifts badly on uncoated kraft or a metallised pouch, where dot gain and paper white behave differently. I work in Illustrator and Esko ArtPro+, soft-proof against GRACoL or ISO 12647-2 profiles, and decide deliberately between CMYK builds and Pantone spot colours: spot for brand-critical hues and tight tolerances, process where unit cost matters. I specify white ink layers on clear film, set Delta E targets for brand colours, and hand the factory a contract proof so there is one agreed reference. Nothing is left to guesswork on press day.

Label compliance is not a template; it is jurisdiction-specific law, and I build it in from the first layout. For the US that means FDA 21 CFR and the current Nutrition or Supplement Facts panel; for the EU, Regulation 1169/2011 with its 1.2mm x-height minimum and bold allergen declarations; for the UK, FIC and Natasha's Law for pre-packed-for-direct-sale items; for the GCC, the relevant Gulf Standard and ESMA requirements, plus Arabic panels and halal marks where they apply. I also plan for recyclability and packaging-waste rules, on-pack recycling labels, the French Triman, and the EU PPWR direction, so the pack does not need re-plating in eighteen months. Legal sign-off stays with your counsel; I make sure there is nothing left for them to flag.

The mistakes I fix are nearly always the same ones. Art supplied in RGB with no embedded profile; rich-black body text that registers as a blurry halo; hairline keylines that vanish below the press's minimum stroke; barcodes scaled past their magnification floor so they fail at the till; no bleed, so a half-millimetre cut drift shows white edges. I run everything through Enfocus PitStop against a supplier-specific preflight profile and render a photoreal 3D proof in Esko Studio or KeyShot, so you approve the real object rather than a flat drawing. Good looks like this: files the factory accepts without comment, colour that matches the proof, and a pack that scans, complies, and converts, both on the shelf and in the Amazon image stack.

Questions buyers ask

How do you price a private label packaging project?

For a defined scope I quote a fixed project fee, so you know the cost before we start; for a growing product line I work on a monthly retainer. The figure depends on SKU count, how many markets need compliant labels, and the print method, since flexo, litho and digital each carry different prepress demands. When you hire a private label packaging expert on a fixed fee, factory revisions and preflight corrections are included rather than billed as surprises.

Can you work with my existing overseas supplier, or do I need a new one?

I work with your existing supplier in almost every case. I contact their prepress team directly, request the current dieline, print specification and material options, and build artwork to their machine, not to a generic guess. If you have no factory yet I can brief you on what to ask candidates for, but you do not need to switch suppliers to hire a private label packaging expert.

Can I see a realistic 3D render before I commit to tooling and print?

Yes. Before any die is cut I produce a photoreal 3D render in Esko Studio or KeyShot, folded on the real dieline with the correct finishes, soft-touch, spot UV, foil or matte, shown under realistic lighting. You approve the actual object rather than a flat PDF, which is where most late and expensive changes are caught before they reach the press.

I already have artwork from another designer. Can you just make it print-ready?

Often, yes, and it is a common reason people hire a private label packaging expert. I audit the supplied file, check colour mode, bleed, ink coverage, trapping and barcode, run it through a supplier-specific preflight, and rebuild whatever will fail on press. You keep the look your designer created; I make it a file the factory can actually plate and print.

How are you different from a design agency or a freelancer on a marketplace?

A typical agency hands over a pretty visual and stops; a marketplace freelancer rarely understands prepress or compliance. I carry the job from concept through colour management, regulatory labelling and factory handoff as one accountable person. That means fewer handoffs, no finger-pointing when a file fails, and a pack engineered to print and sell, not just to look good in a portfolio shot.

Do you handle flexible packaging and labels, or only rigid boxes?

Both. I work across folding cartons, rigid boxes, stand-up pouches and films, pressure-sensitive labels, and shrink sleeves. Each has its own rules, barrier and white-ink handling on flexible film, substrate opacity on labels, distortion on shrink sleeves, so I design to the format rather than forcing one approach onto all of them. Tell me the pack type and I will tell you the constraints upfront.
