Hire Software Development Manager Consultant — delivery you can plan around
Your engineers are talented, but nothing ships on time. Estimates are fiction, priorities change daily, and “agile” means standups nobody values. That's not an engineering problem — it's a management problem. A software development manager consultant brings the delivery discipline that turns a group of developers into a team that hits dates.
I'm Omer Muneer Qazi, a Fractional CTO & Solutions Architect with 15+ years running software delivery and 100+ projects shipped across 6 countries. I embed with teams as a part-time development manager: fixing planning, estimation, and process — and mentoring your people to sustain it. See engagement models and my leadership background.
Delivery management that sticks
Planning & estimation discipline
Sprint planning that produces believable commitments: story sizing, capacity planning, and the honest conversations about scope that prevent end-of-sprint surprises.
Agile that fits your team
Scrum, Kanban, or a hybrid — chosen for how your team actually works, not from a certification textbook. Rituals earn their place by making delivery better or they get cut.
Prioritization frameworks
Backlog management with clear ownership: who decides what gets built, how trade-offs get made, and how “urgent” requests stop derailing every sprint.
1:1s & performance management
Regular one-on-ones with real substance, growth plans for engineers, and the difficult performance conversations handled early and fairly.
Cross-team coordination
When design, product, and engineering stop collaborating and start throwing work over walls, I rebuild the interfaces: shared rituals, clear handoffs, joint accountability.
Delivery metrics & forecasting
Velocity tracking, cycle time, and release predictability reported honestly — so stakeholders get forecasts they can plan around instead of dates everyone knows are fictional.
From chaos to cadence
A structured engagement with no surprises — you’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.
Delivery assessment
I observe your rituals, review recent sprints, and talk to the team. The diagnosis is usually clear within two weeks: where planning breaks, where priorities leak, where morale sits.
Process reset
We redesign the delivery cadence together — planning, standups, reviews, retros — sized for your team and explained in terms of outcomes, not dogma.
Managed delivery
I run the process part-time: facilitating planning, unblocking the team, managing stakeholders, and holding the line on sustainable pace.
Sustainable handoff
I train your internal manager or tech lead to run it, then step back to an advisory role. The process survives because your people own it.
Why teams hire Omer for delivery management
Delivery management is a craft, and I've practiced it for 15+ years across 100+ projects in 6 countries — from startup teams of three to enterprise programs. With leadership experience at Phaedra Solutions and product teams at Integriti, Napollo, Nabidios, Nello, and EverestX, I know which process problems are really people problems, and vice versa.
I manage delivery without the theater. Check engagement options or talk about your delivery challenges.
Frequently asked questions
Our team tried agile and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
Because most “agile transformations” install rituals without diagnosing problems. I start from your actual delivery pain — missed dates, thrash, low morale — and design process as the treatment, not the religion.
Can you work with our existing project manager?
Absolutely — that's often ideal. I mentor and upskill your PM while providing the senior technical management judgment they may not have yet. The goal is a stronger internal capability, not dependence on me.
How much of your time does our team need?
Typically a few focused hours per week: planning facilitation, 1:1s, stakeholder management, and async availability. Delivery management is high-leverage work; it doesn't need 40 hours.
Will this turn into heavyweight process?
No. I measure every ritual against one question: does this make us ship better? Small teams usually end up with lighter process than they had — just process that actually works.
Do you do performance management too?
Yes. Underperformance is a delivery risk like any other, and avoiding the conversation is what lets it fester. I handle feedback, improvement plans, and exits professionally and humanely.
